Cheers 1922.
The funny thing is that I'm from Norwich. Sca is still going but there's to many ********s down there with there modern crap being done. I was Gunna ask them for advice but didn't think they'd have much on old cars. And they tend to be quite expensive. You from Norwich bud? Could be a close usefull resource!

All good information 1922
It Will help others pick and choose what will work for them
My early struts had some cut down spings that where tack welded to the pans
The whole lot got skipped as it was dangerous
I think gaz recons would be ok with std springs for a std road car

All mine has been guess work, only Time will tell if I was right or wrong !

I've compared Capri leaf springs - I think these are the same as the Escort.

The springs were about 3 inches longer and the axle mounts closer to the front. I never tried but it looked like they might just be made to fit if you drill a new location hole for the axle.
Don't know if the existing hole would be a weak point or not.

I used early model Sierra springs on post '73 standard front struts. The springs are 40% uprated (I think this made them 120lb). The ride height is one inch lower than standard. The springs needed just a little grinding on the very ends - then they fit as well as original springs.

Later model Sierras have much larger diameter springs that won't fit.

I found the Spax strut inserts for the struts to hard for road use and prone to pulling out of the struts (it's difficult to remove the old insert without stretching the top of the strut body). Standard struts work nicely though with the springs I have.

I got the springs, inserts and rear shocks from SCA Race and Rally in Norwich - but this was over 20 years ago.

Hope this helps.

I will get all the part numbers for you tonight

mk2 springs are 60mm wide so no
mk1 spring are 2" wide so maybe

mk1 and mk2 are the same length I would need to get some measurements
for you, it would be handy for me to know as well !

I have saved all the part numbers for everything I have bought
track rod ends wheel bearings ebc discs & pads etc.

Fastback Thomas,
I just asked for the mk2 escort rally springs with 11''free height and rated at 175lb (by phone) havn't fitted them yet won't till Wednesday night because I'm waiting for my balljoints to turn up. At the moment thought it's on escort springs and sits 2'' lower looks alot more though. Looks the nuts!! Just got a problem with my wheels scrubbing on the back arches Coz I'm running 13x7j alloys the old school star mags. I'm on Facebook if anyone wants to add me, there's pictures on there....

How did yu order your springs Luke?
Which one did you order or did you just send them an E-mail with dimensions etc. ?
How low does your car sit now? (pictures are always good can't wait to see another arrow down low! )

Mines a rapier fastback Luke

I think The bush kit was listed for a hunter (all the same afaik) you just need to check anti roll bar diameter
(Use an open ended spanner) the drop link bushes are a a little tight but the grease supplied helps
I can give you all the part numbers if you need them.
