Hello Paul, just to say congratulations on your purchase and I'm glad she's solid underneath - I hope you get as much pleasure from her as we do from ours, I remember an in depth advert for this car a couple of years ago and I don't think you'll find much filler as it would appear she was treasured for years by someone whom I believe is no sadly longer with us, I hope the novelty doesn't wear off as it seems to have done with the last couple of owners Best Regards

Hi David,
This has already cost me a new bathroom, so I wont be getting bored for long time yet. There is loads of history with the car ( supporting that it was owned by a loving owner. Over the next few weeks I'll be scanning and uploading to the site as it really is quite an interesting lifetime.
Oh, also just found out that the wings a worth saving!

Yes, looks to be a goody. Not much past info about it in our club history. Chap who owned it for years couldn't have been a club member. Previous chap was, but looks like he did not have it for long. Welcome to the forum btw & hope people can help you out as you progress with your tidying up of the old girl . G. |

Well popped it in for an MOT today just to see how it was in general, told the MOT tester to be reasonably brutal with his pic and it...................Failed
The good news is that it was 4 very small holes ( 5cm ish) at either end of both sills, pulled everthing off today ( car not me ) and will be welded in the morning.
All good so far me thinks |

Well, pleased to confirm a Baby Boy ( Charlie) arrived safe and sound!
Starting the rapier rebuild this weekend and looks like the front wings will be replaced with fibreglass ones that I purchased; anyone ever fitted f/glass wings? How did it go?
I'll try to post more frequently and include some pics of the ongoing saga ;-)

I fitted fibreglass wings to my '73 Rapier. The only tricky bit was the joint at the top. I welded a long strip to the wing and drilled it then bolted the wing on - this means the front wings can be removed to work on the front suspension more easily.
I also fitted a square panel inside them to stop the muck from the front wheel getting to the back of the headlamp panels.

Anything from B post back is great, just earlier bodges causing problems.
Has anyone got some Headlamp plates lurking, or any ideas where I could find some?

Thanks Thomas, I had a chat with Speedyspares earlier but no luck
I'll try alpine spares in the morning, may I ask how much yours cost?
