Hi Paul, as Jason says welcome to the fastback fanatics club, we say that because our elders with their series rapiers are very quiet. You will have to let us know which car you have bought - is it one of those that have been on e-bay recently?- and post some piccies, and do join the SROC you will be glad you did if you are going to run a rapier Best Regards
Thanks for the link, oh any idea which issue the fastback was in Practical classics recently ? ( I guess reading before buying woul dhave been a better idea)
No problem, always happy to help if I can. PC website is worth a look, they have a 'parts interchangeable guide' or pig for short. It shows all parts that can be used across makes and models, very useful.
Hi. I'd just like to add that just last may's classic's monthly did a feature comparing a MGB V8 a 3 litre Crapi and an H120 and the Rapier came out on top overall!, I've seen the article on the internet but it's not available as a back issue and I've been trying to get one but without any luck so far Regards
Probably wrong section but picked the rapier up today...1oo miles in pouring rain and didn't miss a beat
Up on the ramps tomorrow for a good look and poke around.
Interior is excellent apart from slight tear on drivers seat and three cracks on dashboard also will need new seat belts as some point.
Exterior as expected, will require front wings or part panel, bit of bubbling on door and a ding in the roof (minor) I am sure there will be a few pounds of filler and worse lurking but so far so good
All MOT's ever, loads of bills including a lifetime guarantee on the exhaust fitted in 1976
Hi Hanley, Front wings always rot on the spot welded joint a couple of inches in front of the door (a mud trap) and the pointy bit at the front (also a mud trap), they are often sound elsewhere. As far as I know the only front wings you can buy are hand made and judging by a friends experience will need a certain amount of 'adjustment' to fit properly. My advice would be to repair the originals and fabricate some plastic or fibreglass liners (like a modern car) to keep the mud out in the future.
Brilliant News, Just got it off the ramps and it is really solid, just need to get some fresh Waxoyle on. The old chap whose ramp I used ( normally miserable as sin) was like a kid on Christmas Day,he was raving about the old Rapiers and how they don't build them like they used to!
