It is quiet. I asked a question about rear tyre clearances on the ser 3 Rapier - anybody have any advice or experiences with this pse ? The right rear rim lip rubs on the chassy on the inside when cornering fast and when mounting a pavement etc. I have 6 mm spacers in both sides but it is max , there are not enough threads left to add more.
Just also want to tell you guys that I can't believe the performance of the 1725 stock engine with only twin webers added.It revs so quick ! |

Is it a bit quiet - I think that many of the Sunbeam owners are -- um how do I put this -- a bit old fashioned when it comes to the internet and forums -- especially the series chaps.
I've not been on here so much recently as I've been doing a lot of working late recently and work for me is sitting in front of a computer  |

Its ashame as i think the fast back rapier is such a good looking car and most people have never even seen one or know what it is! They seem to get missed. Perhaps some of the people of this club need to get on a coarse at college and get computer literate so more people will join in with the rapier fun lol. I own quite a few classic cars and a massive fan of rootes, but also own other makes,and have got to say this forum seems to be the quitest one
Mind you i bet there arent many fast backs left?? |

I am also a Rootes fan, and love all classics and vintage cars , can't stand it to see an old vehicle just rotting away somewhere...like steam locomotives... The fastback Rapier is my 2nd choice though, I prefer the Series Rapiers.Would have liked to transfer all the Holbay fastback's mechanicals over to my Rapier body.Suspension and diff particularly.
Wish the guys on this forum would all post photos of their vehicles and work they have done.I would show mine off, but not sure how to do it ! |

Well I have said this before but it does seem to be nearly all us fastback fanatics so where are our elders (and betters?) with their series rapiers?. I've been trying in vain to get hold of a copy of may's classics monthly where a H120 get's the thumbs up over a MGBGT V8 and a Ford Crapi but it's not available as a back copy only a digital version so it must have been very popular! anyone got a spare copy they could be persuaded (or blackmailed or threatend!!) to part with for an amount of the queens currency?

here you go ! as mentioned in a previous thread here are some pics of my brothers 1970 H120 in polar white.It has covered 54,000 miles from new.He restored it in the late eighties including full repaint and engine rebuild with genuine holbay pistons and re-con cylinder head by Holbay.Has not been used in many years but i have kept the engine turning etc.Currently in negotitions to see if he will sell it to me for restoration/recommission but not holding my breath

Hi Steve,
I think you should just trailer it home and get it back on the road, it looks far too good to be locked away in a garage!
If we put some effort in between us we could have a nice collection of H120's in the South West! (assuming you are local like Kim?)

I noticed that there dosn't seem to be much in the way of events going on for Rapier owners. |

I think you're right - would be great to see it back in use again but try telling him that The more i mention it the higher the price rises Has been the source of much banter lately!!
I remember seeing your car at the Bristol classic car show many years ago when it was parked on ramps - lovely
My current car is this 1985 Audi Quattro Coupe which i show occasionally - this takes up a fair bit of time but I think that the H120 deserves some attention after all these years

Oh yes very nice but would look even better with that H120 parked next to it! It is a few years ago now since
mine was at shepton but hopefully we can make a return soon, maybe even as part of an H120 duet, who knows?!
