Hi guys, I know mota-lita makes up bosses for the Rapiers , you can email them info@mota-lita.co.uk.
pricey though - around 267 pounds for the 15" steering wheel and matching boss with centre cap , that is incl shipping to South Africa.I have bigger low profile tyres so the current 14" wheel is heavy to handle at low speeds.
cheers
Jan.

I haven't got as far as the stalks yet as I'm undecided whether to use the BMW wheel or something else - and this affects the indicator. I'd like to use a Rapier stalks instead of the nasty plastic BMW ones.

You know I followed this thread (at least I thought I did) and somehow missed out on the page where you played around with the different columns and wheels. Last time I remember looking at it you were cutting and rejoining the Avenger UJ, so had assumed you had used the whole Avenger assembly. Will teach me to be more attentive in future!

Lovely piece of work by the way.... I have a feeling this will be a car I will need to see when you complete the project.

I might reuse the wheel but the boss is no use to me - my Rapier has a BMW 5 series steering column.
The boss has 6 holes at 100mm diameter - the standard fitting for Mountney and several others.

Wouldn't mind seeing photographic evidence of said BMW steering column..... along with a full report as to how you achieved this innovative modification.... along with a snag list regarding stalks etc etc!!

I don't think you can Thomas..... you would need to optimise the length for yourself before fitting it... but couldn't adjust it after without taking it off.

Hey Martin.... I just been on ebay and there's a guy selling one. Here's the link..... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SUNBEAM-RAPIER-ALPINE-STEERING-WHEEL-/140494303974?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item20b61cf2e6

Not seen one on for some time now.... What are the chances of that?

Hey as Christmas has now passed im wanting to treat the car and thought a new steering wheel would be a good addition.

When i was at the NEC i had a good look around and was very tempted to get one, but then found out noone had any idea as to what boss i need to fit on my steering column.

As far as im aware, my steering column is standard and fitted to rapier fastbacks from 1968.
my column allows the wheel to extend or retract and has a pretty narrow spine.

Any help would be good, thanks guys
