Mine had it's second MOT in about 27years yesterday... Sailed straight through. No advisories what so ever!

Early struts - up to '73

Later struts - from '73

To use the Sierra springs or anything similar you will need to later type struts.

Can you use both versions of the top mount with either strut? I see both listed on each page.

99% certain they are interchangeable. It's just a different bearing. But it will check the parts book when I get home from work.

They must be universal fit as they are both on the diagram for early & late struts.

I know absolutely nothing about suspension, but have been directed here from another forum.
Does anyone know the part number for SPAX front & rear suspension struts for a MK 2 Humber Sceptre (1966)?
I'm having my engine converted to 120-130bhp by Coltec Racing, and need something a little stiffer. Any recommendations welcome?

I've seen on the www.needforspeed.co.uk/pages/sbv_pl.asp?Vehicle=HBSCE01&PartType=SUS04 website:
SPX-G146 Sceptre Mk I-II '63-'67 Front £75+VAT
SPX-G144 Sceptre Mk I-II '63-'67 Rear £75+VAT

So I called up Spax, but they said they were for a Hillman Imp, and could not guarantee they are the correct ones, and cannot except returns. Which is pretty poor service and bad business in my book.

So I'm at a loss.

A good place to start would be speedy spares, they list SPAX shocks for Sceptres, see here;

Give them a call, they are extremely knowledgeable and helpful in my experience.
