Now now David let's not get greedy!!!

I must admit tho, once mine is back on the road I may keep an eye out for a project!

Another fastback would be nice but I do fancy a hunter gls, or at least a gls "copy"

Hi Mike, welcome to the forum, I have to say I agree with Steve you would have regretted it for years it’s a beautiful car although I thought it looked better with the stripes it had before the black ones but beauty is in the eyes of the beholder as they say, I have to say that you came pretty close to saying bye bye because if I could have found another garage in time I would have met your reserve. Still I’m glad I didn’t and she’s staying with you where she belongs. Rapiers and especially H120’s are underrated and accordingly undervalued anyway as the recent test in classics monthly proved, perhaps with the sad news of Roy Axe passing they may be under the spotlight for a while – maybe we might all have a gathering one day
Best Regards

Well Mike I have to say that I think you have made the right decision - I always think it comes down to the question of where would you find another one as good as that? if after selling you regretted it. A fine car and in one of my favourite colours (wardance red)too.
Of course, as you are new to the forum, this does mean that you will have to post up lots of pictures of your H120 in the Your Cars section as part of your initiation Welcome aboard

Is it a bit quiet - I think that many of the Sunbeam owners are -- um how do I put this -- a bit old fashioned when it comes to the internet and forums -- especially the series chaps.

Now then!! We 'Series chaps' are probably as old as your grandad or grandmother, and I'll bet he or she isn't that interested in the internet.

That being said, we wrinklies are probably more interested in our models because we all used to have them in our youth. I'm 66 now, but when I was in my 20's I had a Series III which was white-ish and pippin red and it was registered UFR 546. My present overdrive IIIA is the two colour green variety and I still get the enjoyment I had 40 years ago when driving it.

Horses for courses.

Hi Glen - good to catch up with you again - it's been a long time!
Great to here that you still have your H120 - I always remember that one, it's the only one i've ever seen in Tangerine metallic with white stripe.Do you have any plans to get it back on the road? - hope it's still in good condition. Some pics would be fantastic.

Mark's H120 was supplied new by Sheffield Rootes dealers E H Pickford & Co on August 19th 1970 and originally came with a black stripe.Feel free to add it the club records.
He decided to go for the red stripe after seeing another H120 (VHM 838M)at a show back in the mid 80's and being inspired by it. It had a black vinyl roof back then and deeper dish rostyles.Glad to see it still survives today and believe it's had some special engine mods?

Hope the Audis are all well - that's quite a collection you have there - just the 2 coupes for me. Will be taking the CQ to Audi Driver International at Castle Combe in October so may see you there?

Jason - hope your's is on the road again soon - keep the pictures coming of the progress - will it be ready for this year's Bristol (shepton) show?

Glen putting his head above the parapit here. Firstly, great looking H120 there & it shouldn't be shut away, but I can't talk, mine having been off road since 2000! A lot of 71/72 cars in Polar were supplied with red stripes (not sure if your bros is orig), but would have thought black better IMHO. Yes, needs to be on road & not one the club has any record of either!
As for Audi's, yes, currently 80GL & Sport used, one as tow car. Have got a similar, but not so good '87 Cq which is currently on-loan to our club (Rapier) president! Collection of Audi's thinned out, now down to about 15 Cheers all. Glen.

The main shepton show was in May so I missed that one. I certainly hope to be ready for next year though and I will keep posting up the progress.

Wow...some goodlie vehicles...the Audie Quattro reminds me of the 1800 Liftback Toyota TRD...nice..I had the 1600 4 door TRD with cam and Webers.
Thanks Jon I will email some photos for the guys. but the Rapier is not standard and some might not approve....
The white H120 is a bargain I think Steve, not much rust there, and the body is straight.Get it ! they are nearly all gone, I have not seen one in South Africa. There is a nice grey Fastback on Gumtree - Cape Town for sale for R30,000 .
I have those same carbs on my Rapier, lying at an angle - still have to make a plan, cut the manifold on the carbs side and re-weld at 12 degrees ?

Oh yes very nice but would look even better with that H120 parked next to it! It is a few years ago now since
mine was at shepton but hopefully we can make a return soon, maybe even as part of an H120 duet, who knows?!
