Hi lads. I'm getting a very low oil pressure reading on my Roots 1725. Idle is just above zero. Running its about 20. Is this normal? I,m running 20w/50, should I go more 15w/40. Ideas please. Cheers Sam.

20w/50 is the correct stuff.
Oil pressure should be up around 50 cold, 30 - 40 when warm.

Think it would be worth checking to pressure relief valve, maybe refurbishing if that's possible otherwise replacing it...

Yes, that's most likely and possible that gauge isn't registering properly: they don't usually give trouble, but it could be that. ~unfortunately with no warning light it is not easy to evaluate.

Thanks lads. Think the carb floats sticking and flooding into the bores.

Oil pressure relief valve is in the aluminium block that the oil filter screws onto.

It's the large bolt just below the filter, the complete valve can be removed and cleaned.
