I have a contact with an Albatross Alpine four-seater for sale. It's number 2010 which makes it the eleventh of around 30 built and one of around a dozen known survivors. It was probably built in '62 and has its original 1,592cc engine which has just been rebuilt at a cost of around £500. The engine appears to have been marinised by Albatross and not by Rootes Marine as various technical differences are apparent in the installation but it is out of the boat at present as the hull really needs repainting and some of the usual dings you always get on an aluminium hull knocking out and working on the hull is easier before the engine is refitted. There is a complete set of new upholstery and a tonneau cover which set the owner back around £500 and there are some extremely rare original parts including the first Albatross water injected copper exhaust manifold and an original Icknield tachometer with the Albatross logo. I know of no other Albatross Alpine with twin exhausts. The boat comes complete with a very good but not original trailer on Mini Cooper wheels. Believe it or not, it's not been in the water since 1975!!
I've seen it and it's a steal at £3,000 but has been reduced to £2,500 as he desperately needs the space. Nearly all Albatross Alpines have later engines and you won't find another with its original Alpine engine for anywhere near this price.
