Seeing this special car for sale has quite shocked me, I have no doubt that Mike has his reasons for selling it but I would have thought that going through the SROC would have been the place to start and e-bay the last resort. It’s reminded me of the day I bought Jessica, I would not have mentioned him by name but due to postings on the forum it’s no secret that I bought her of Mr Kimberley Wilkinson. We set off home with my wife following and stopped at the first motorway services and Dorothy could see that I was feeling quite pedantic, naturally she asked why when she had expected me to be elated but I said “ I feel a bit like the ba*tard who just shot bambi, that car was that man’s pride and joy and I feel like I have stolen it from him", even though I think (hope) he would agree I paid him a very fair price for her and now realises she went to a very good home. I just hope whoever buys this beautiful car will take very very good care of her for her previous owner’s sake and indeed for our country’s history – if only I had more garage space
Best Regards

Hi David - agree it must be a difficult decision for Mike to sell a car that he has obviously put so much time and effort into.I always remember seeing this car at Blenhein Palace in the early nineties when the previous owner to Mike had it.It only had 19000 miles at that time and had been Zeibart rust treated from new it was exceptional then and although i haven't seen the car in the flesh since Mike has owned it all the pictures i have seen suggest that it has been further improved/restored/cared for.
Funnily enough Mike actually brought a friend along to look at your car (Jessica) when Kim was selling it but fate would have it that the deal was never done! Kim did however end up making some very nice H120 badges for Mike's car!
Mikes car is exactly the same spec as Kim's other H120 which is awaiting a re-paint - wardance red with parchment interior.
The world of Rapier is a small one indeed!

Hi Steve, " making H120 badges", how on earth did he do that? does the man's talents know no bounds!, what (if anything) has happened to the white Rapier he told me he was going to restore first?
Best Regards

Or should i say badge inserts - he's in the sign trade.
My twin brother Mark owns the white H120 which has pics in the Your Cars section.
Kim has a silver H120 which requires some major restoration work and the wardance red H120 as mentioned above.

Anyone on here bidding on Mikes H120?

Yes nice car up for grabs there but such a shame that Mike is having to sell, I know how much his car means to him.

Let's hope it finds a good home.

haha,

It ended up a bit out of my reach money wise.

Hopefully it will find a good home.

Reserve not met at over 3 grand, whilst I think its worth it, they're not valued very highly amongst the classic world for some reason.

wow.....it's a beaut. If I had the chance here I would have bought it @ that price, rather than the series I have. It is really amazing to see these beautiful cars up yonder.
I can't for the life of me understand why Rootes never really 'took off'. Nobody seems to know.

Well i guess with classic cars, values are very hard to agree on - my reckoning would be that Mike's car could fetch between £3500 - £4000 if it's in as good nick as the pictures would indicate.
If you take into consideration the rarity of these now this would not be out of the way compared to other classic prices.
There must only be a handful of H120's in the owners club that are of this standard.
Will be interesting to see if Mike relists with Ebay or puts it on here at a fixed price.

I think a few extra Key words ( Holbay Rapier H120 Etc etc) would have lifted the price a vast amount.

Might drop him a line in the morning

Actually I thought that, he listed it as Sunbeam Red and then misspelt Sunbeam Rapier underneath and if it hadn't been for Steve I wouldn't have spotted it
Regards Etc
