Hia guys and gals...

I havent been on the rapier scene for well over a year now, but am determined to change that this spring.

In 2012 my fastback developed a few annoying issues, following a visit to a local mechanics, including -

Remote central locking failed to work and now randomly locks the car and sets the alarm off when it wants. If only i knew what the garage did to cause this as troubleshooting is proving difficult. You may say though its my fault for adding this tech...

Some blemishes have appeared(if you look hard) on the bodywork

Interior was covered in dust from bodywork repair - much cleaning required.

MOT has now expired, uumm.

Then I swapped my all but deceased strombergs for Webers and all the trimmings, and now not only will the engine not run properly, it wont even start.

I aim to take UMU to a localish garage with a rolling road to set the carbs and engine up properly, so i can at least drive her again.

Any motivation would be appreciated.

Watch this space and hope to see you again this year

Martin.

Getting the car set up on a dyno will produce the best results
Cost me a small fortune but at the same time got lumenition new venturis, filters and a filter king fitted
Starts with no choke after a couple of dabs on the throttle runs superb and quite economical even when rallying with its low gearing
Can't wait to get the holbay engine built :)

Getting motivated can be difficult at times I nearly sold the car last year but so pleased I didn't
Had a lot of help from the forum members and just missed rapier '13 but will hopefully be at rapier '14
Quite a few cars in the middle of restoration jabe and fastback Thomas to name two also new members with cars and Looking forward to seeing progress on the hunter gls

Plenty happening in 2014 :)

sometimes nothing can be a real cool hand

I've also let my effort on the project car slip this past 12 months, but I'm determined to have the car on the road for this summer. There's no chance of having the holbay engine rebuilt and the new/replacement transmission installed, but I could have the car with the standard set up running.

There's a fair amount to do, but it's really all about completing the bodywork and sorting out the interior. It's doable as long as I conscientiously make the effort to make the time to do it.

Welcome back mate I wondered where you'd gone! There should be quite a few of us re-appearing on the scene this year, including me!

Hia Jason.
Yeah it's been a while, it's not as easy to find time as it's all taken up with my part time uni course and cycling when I'm not at work. But that's just excuses so well see.

Good luck Arrowcuda - I'm looking forward to seeing your fbk.
Keep us posted.
I'm hoping for a good summer and maybe if compete well actually be able to get them out.

THANK YOU guys.

Im pleased you like UMU. She hasnt deteriorated over the last year either, which is so lucky with all this rain but the garage is part of a barn so v well ventilated.
I'm feeling more inspired too. Just need some cash now. Ha.
