Thanks guys - i have sprayed loads of chain oil over as much of the runner thing (like a large coil inside a half open tube that runs all round the door.) but not much is happening.

Id love to come in on a spax order for front coil overs - see how bigger order we can get and then a price. Good idea Jason

If there are a few of you that are interested in the spax shocks, why don't you see if you can get some sort of group buy offer.
As for the sticky windows, silicone oil would be better than wd.

Martin, try to spray some WD40-lubricant in to the guiding channels and wind thm up a couple of times mate... should make them go easier? if you haven't all ready tried that?
We had one of 'em who was twisted and squeezed together so it wouldn't go well either, might be worth checking that?

I know the feeling Mate, me too, I'm always doing this for my grand dad or my dad and in the end my car is still sitting their like it was a month ago...

As for the spax' I'll probably order a full set at the end of the month..

Yeah it went ok actually, although raided some of Marks spares, the biggest mystery was to find Dads prop shaft was an inch to long.
But it works and Dads managing to use it. Although he's having the worst luck - brake master cylinder failed, so I replaced that for him. Then the T piece bewteen the carbs split - replaced that, then a leak from carbs so has now sorted that to find the throttle cable is all but snapped.

Its going in next week for MOT and hell get all other things done too. So fingers crossed.

This week I've been fitting elec window kit to all 4 corners. Good news is its all in and fits well.
BIG problem is all windows but drivers are not free enough so the motors fail
Any advise on how to free them up would be ace.

No, not yet

Probably not much different to when you saw it actually. For one reason or another I haven't been able to get to it but I might get some time on it this weekend weather permitting. How did the gearbox swap on your Dads car go?

hi again,thanks for info on lowering,i thought it would be lowering blocks on the back but the front is the awkward bit,as you know there are no off the shelf uprated or lowered front springs available. I have heard that some ford sierra lowering springs fit the fastback but there are so many different models i wouldnt know where to start,i would still like to do it as makes car look so much better and improves handling, cheers Andy.

Thanks for the info. The chap I bought it off was around 30 called Charlie, I think. He said the same, that hed pestered him mate to sell it. I was suprised though as on the log book it showed that he hadn't even had the car for a year.
I'm pleased you've seen it before and like what's been done to it. As you said its been lowered - around 3-4 inchs, which makes so much difference, with the only down side being it will hit the tyres if loaded with more than 2 people around a corner.
On the front, I think are shorter springs and struts that look original except they are coilovers and on the main shaft is a thread and nut, I'm guessing for the adjustment. These are so warn that I'm gonna try standard struts and see how the car is with them, whilst I try and get these refurbed.
On the rear are lowering blocks. And that's it, apart from the aftermarket wheels.
I'm currently fitting an elec window kit to all 4 windows, and have fitted remote central locking with alarm so it feels a bit more up-to-date

hi,thanks for your message,i will try upload pics when i get new camera,in the meantime my car is the metallic blue one used along with yours in club gallery on this site also in post of pics from moffat show this year.I have admired your car for a while,i like the slightly modified look,i saw it once and met the guy that owned car before you when it was in lochgilphead,he had pestered previous owner to sell UMU to him lol,i think the car had also been in ayrshire earlier in its life and this was maybe where it was modified.I have been toying with lowering mine but not sure how to go about it,also to have it polybushed, cheers,Andy

Good to hear from you and like Tom said there a lot of really decent people on here, who's knowledge usually blows my mind and helps me out.
I was wondering if you ever crossed paths with my fastback which until I bought it spent some time in Scotland, north of Glasgow.

Apart from knowing in 1968 it started life in the London area I know very little.

Also if your able can you please upload some photos of your car on here so we can all have a good look. Its a bit like an initiation!

I admire your determination to get her up and running,hopefully you will be able to enjoy her in near future.I havent met many of the other members being a distance away in Scotland but hope in future to get to some shows further afield, maybe see you at Moffat one day,there were cars from Germany and Switzerland this year,cheers Andy.
