Thanx for the comments and advice, Tim. Basically, that's the main issue... That this club has ALL the posts written by ONE AND ONLY MAN, the moderator of the page ... I think that he is probably the owner of most of these cars, hahaha!!!
I am trying to find him, but it is a little bit difficult. I 'll do my best though.
Cheers Panos

Hey Panos...... A Rootes/Chrysler club in Greece! How about that! I am thinking that this is not the car you are thinking of buying..... is just the same colour.
If it's in similar condition to that one with good mechanicals too.... you would pay at least the same price over here. Generally here you can expect to pay.....
£500...... Needs major restoration most likely some welding and mechanical work needed too.
£1000..... Is OK... maybe even passed for road use but is in need of some work. (Usually light bodywork and new paint).
£1500.... Would get you a good one!
£2000+ ..... Show condition example.
This is only to give you an idea of the price for a Sunbeam Rapier over here, but not H120. Your country is very hot so the kind of problems we have with rusty panels may not be a problem for you.
Tim.

In your country they are obviously rarer cars than they are over here, so our prices might not be a good guide for you.
First of all, I would like to pay the cost for the service ... Two photos for you, both from Classics tour of Athens 2010...
First one: Sunbeam Rapier 3,1961 SUPREME SUNBEAM, Avenger 1500 in front of "Kallimarmaron Stadium" (seen left): It is the stadium where the first Modern Olympic Games had taken place in 1896. http://clubs.pathfinder.gr/sunbeam2/494035?album=329425&zoom=11
Second one is the first Fastback I have seen in my life, parked somewhere in between other British classics... It is a 1967 model. http://clubs.pathfinder.gr/sunbeam2/494035?album=329425&zoom=14
Links provided are from the only "Sunbeam club" I have found in the country. Even without knowing thw lenguage you can see some interesting photos from the menu at the left side.
Thank you once more for the initial approach of the subject. I will inform / update the board for my news...
Best regards
Panos

Hi dragonflyer,my name is mike and i own an H120 If the fastback your on about is an H120 then it should have twin weber carbs[dcoe,s] and the boot lid is shaped different also there shuold be H120 badges on the side of the front wings. and a set of Rostyle wheels plus a set of stripes down the side of the car.
If you look at some of the topics on the forum you should see a few H120,s look out for [JPSH120] he has is pictured on any topic .. Hope this helps ... Regards Mike. |

Hi Dragonflyer. I think you will do well to buy that car- I don't think it is a H120 though.I am not an expert but the H120's came with twin webers , special head and exhaust and a hot cam and stuff like that. Sunbeams are of the most underrated cars. I want one but can't gerrit....none in South Africa at all. |

Yo Panos!!! Welcome to the board!
Can't answer all your questions but I'm sure between everyone you will get to know what you need to find out.
This sounds like a very interesting car but if it's an H120 the carburettors should not be the Strombergs as these are the type fitted to the standard Rapier. The thing to do to find out exactly what your mystery car is.... to write down the VIN number off the plate that you will find when you lift the bonnet lid. The number is on the left side of the bonnet release mechanism.
You get the number.... you write it on here and the collective knowledge of all the members will help you to find out exactly what it is and when it was built. There will be a cost for the service and that will be a photograph of the car posted here on the thread.
I can say that this would be a very cheap car to maintain and run for 3000 miles a year. £1400 is also a good price if it turned out to be an H120, but would be only a fair price for a Rapier in good condition over here. In your country they are obviously rarer cars than they are over here, so our prices might not be a good guide for you.

Dear friends good morning
My name is Panos and this a wish for a good and creative month from Greece.
Hello to everyone @ the Sunbeam Rapier Owners Club... What you will read has been posted to the Facebook group with no answer, I hope I find one here...
I had only seen two Fastbacks in my life. I had read a lot in the Web and your website though. I've just found one here in Greece and I am planning to travel 200 miles to see her... I think she is an H120, since there is a dual Stromberg carb and override.
The car had one owner since 1970 and is stored in a closed parking for the last 15 years, for sale now from the owner's son.
Maintenance was in an authorised engineer, blank accident record, only one respray at the same original blue colour 20 years ago. Tyres and rims are originals, there is even the original SANYO 8-track player interior is white. (Basically, interior is another question since I dont know if it was produced in white leather-like upholstery...).
Getting in the point, I really would appreciate your help about the following...
1. In Greece there should NOT be more than 2 to 3 left. What was the total number of LHD Fastbacks produced and what is your estimate for today?
2.Can you finally manage it with common spares like oil filters, crankshafts, absorbers, etc? How difficult it would be in your opinion to maintain the vehicle for a use of 3000 miles per year?
3. And last... Final cost will be something like 1400 pounds. How does it sound?
Thank you for your time to read this... I wrote here considering that I could have an answer and some opinions...
I really wish to be able to be a real member of the Club in the future saving this lady from scrap.
Thank you in advance
Panos
