Looking good but I would have used a bigger piece for the floor section as there doesnt look much over hang for you to weld the section in. If you want to get really tech you could joggle the edge to so it fits really nice Nice clamps by the way

Good session on the car this afternoon fabricating some repair pieces and also got most of them clipped in place. A bit more fiddling required before the welding can begin;

Weather permitting I will be back on it again on Monday.

How a rusty hole always turns out to become a massive gap...
Sadly I know all about it..
Keep up the good work!

I've made a start on what I hope will be the last bit of bodywork repairs needed. This is the junction of N/S/F footwell/sill and it has evidently been repaired previously but over 20 years ago;

I bought them a while ago but presumably they are still available. They must still make some shocks with the correct dimensions etc.

Sticking with standard for now, I've got a new pair of boge shocks to go on.

A little more progress to report. All the rear suspension is new (shocks & springs) so a dirty old axle was not going to look right! It has taken some cleaning but well worth it!

I have some satin black to finish it off to match the other components.

I am having my first go at mig welding, there are a couple of small patches required on the underside, not visible so it doesnt have to be pretty!!

-------------------------------------------

Axle is now finished, so onto the next job!

Was late back from work tonight so didn't get much done other than making the last brake pipe to go to the rear of the car. Did put the rocker cover on to see it in all of it's polished glory.......

I did have a look at the heater but taking it apart was a bit too fiddly to be worrying about at this stage. So instead I went about replacing the last bit of old sound proofing, the bit over the transmisson tunnel;

I had to make 2 halves to replace it as the material I have isn't big enough to do it in 1 piece but it is much better now!

Yes I know none of this will be visible but I had the stuff so thought I might as well do it! The matting is actually leftovers from an acoustic curtain that was installed at the engineering firm I used to work for. I stuck it all in place tonight using spray contact adhesive, that stuff clears your sinuses!

Hopefully get the wiper mechanism & heater back in tomorrow although I am tempted to take the heater apart to replace the padding that fits on the little flaps that direct the air as that is crumbling off in places, i'll see how easy it looks first!

Yes, very neat there Jason, but no one will ever see it . Still definitely need something there to cut down a little on the noise. No progress on mine or kack-hander I'm ashamed to say. G.

Very neat Jason, your car is going to be awesome when finished, with all the jobs being such a high standard. I've just seen the pics of your webers too, quite inspiring!
