£100 sounds pretty reasonable I'd be up for a pair if this is an option in the future.

Well club had some re-made (in s/s) many years ago, but they were poor fit - all sold now. Since then a few members have looked to get them done again, but due to length, getting them 'mass-produced' at a viable cost has been difficult. Member in Lincs was looking at it, but not heard from him for a while.

That's interesting - so how do I go about tracking down a pair of those?!

Yes, that's right, every Rapier had them: they were an option on the Alpine at some time during production - I think.
In '68 they would have been s/steel; changing to the brushed ali finish in mid '69: maybe due to supply issues, or maybe cost? G.

All of the fastback rapiers had the sill trims as far as I know. The fastback alpine did not (apart from a thin finishing strip).

Unfortunately, I'm showing the car all day at Oare Steam and Vintage Festival with my dad - so don't think my wife would be too happy to lose the whole weekend to car shows!! Shepton is a great show - me and my dad have been going for about the last 7 years (5 years in a Triumph GT6).

There's no sign that it would have had sill trims - I'm new to this, but wasn't this just for the H120s or was it just certain fastback models? This is an automatic from 1968.

Hi - showed the Sunbeam off at the Wilton Wake Up in May - got some great pictures proudly parked in front of the historic Wilton House - early start, but bacon butty helped! Worried all the way home as the temperature gauge was in the red - but turned out it seems it's a faulty gauge - so that's a relief - just need to track down a replacement.

Also showed the car at the Vintage and Nostalgia rally at Stockton and am booked in to to show at Wiltshire Steam and Vintage Rally at Oare next Saturday 13th June - so we're getting it out there!

Great thanks for the info.

I thought the clock was working again because every time I get in it's showing the correct time - only to find out that dad has been setting it to the right time just before I come over to take the car out...

Don't forget that now you are club members you can get spares from the club at discount prices; albeit that it is on a best endeavours basis to supply as we don't have an official in the role at the moment

The battery is an LR 50 , easily available at most battery shops . I fitted one to my 1968 rapiers clock , hey presto it works . The battery is in a separate plastic holder behind the dash on the right hand side clipped to a metal stay . You can see it easily without removing anything

Great, Gaydon doesn't seem to far to get to.
Latest on the car - Dad's been busy: speedo now working, window washer fixed and driver window fully up (not exactly fixed - but not going to wind it down again in this weather!).
