Does anyone know if the 1971 Fastback Rapier has mounting points for seat belts in the back? and if so are they 3 point mountings or just for lap belts? Also, do the seats in the front contain any type of reciever tubes or mountings for head rests?
Hi Dave, I've had a 1973 since 1986 and more recently a 1968 too. I've never found any mount points for rear belts. But there is plenty of metal where they could be fitted - the rear parcel shelf is steel and the seats can be easily removed to get to the floor. You can get universal type kits that include the mounting plates. Hope this helps
The standard Rapier seats don't allow for head rests. The seat back just has a simple oblong frame inside. I have seen Ford RS-2000, Saab and Ford Capri seats in Rapiers. I have Capri seats in both of mine - the frames are a little longer and wider than 'proper' Rapier seats so a bit of fabrication work is required.
Thanks a mil folks, the belts have been ordered and I'll keep ya updated on my attempts to fit them in the back! And I'll be keeping an eye out for some nice sporty 70s seats fot the front!
