Can anyone recommend someone who is good at rebuilding 1725cc Sunbeam Rapier gearboxes ? I have had the overdrive rebuilt and feel the gearbox needs a refresh after about 30 years of careful use.
Thanks.

I've rebuilt my own one twenty years ago - the gearbox is nice and simple and a lot easier to rebuild than the overdrive - you don't need any special tools.
You will find that the layshaft will need to be replaced, perhaps the baulk/synchro rings and the input shaft bearing. You might also find that the teeth on the input shaft that engage the 3rd/4th synchro hub may be worn which can cause the box to pop out of 4th gear under acceleration.

Assuming you mean "fastback" rather than 1725 "Series", the factory workshop manual has a very good chapter on rebuilding the box and you can get a new layshaft from http://www.rootesparts.com/id108.htm

The gearbox is common to all the Arrow series cars (Hunter, Sceptre, Rapier, Alpine, Vogue etc) the only difference is whether it has the standard or close ratios. But even this is only a different input shaft and layshaft gear cluster which probably don't need to replaced.

I never had a gearbox rebuilt but I have been told that J R Dain in Norwich are very good (but not cheap) - see http://www.transrep.fsnet.co.uk/
