Now the '71 Rapier fastback is up and running, where do we get spare parts from? I'm a bit confused by what I've found on-line.
Who are the main/best suppliers?

I have found speedy spares down in Brighton to be very helpful and surprisingly cheap. They have a large selection of Arrow spares and cover other makes too. www.speedyspares.co.uk/

Richard,
Speedy spares as has already been suggested is good but the club has a decent amount of spares so always worth checking with Glen to see if he's got what you want.
The fastback has much in common mechanically with all the Rootes Arrows models so many items are suitable even if not listed specifically for fastbacks.
Is there anything particular that you are after now or are you just sussing things out??

Thanks for that J. Yes, we've still got quite a bit as I said too in a previous posting. Better helping someones car keep on the road, than sitting on the shelf: means we can generate some cash & buy or remanufacture some more bits too.  quote:

We need a complete exhaust system. Any ideas?
I'm guessing that they're not available 'off the shelf' so we're talking big money, right?
We've been quoted £370 to have one made up but I'm hoping to beat that.
Any advice would be most welcome,

I would get in touch with the Fastback Spares secretary in the club (see http://www.sunbeamrapier.co.uk/spares.html) - he might just have a mild steel system in stock.
I would also consider a stainless steel system.
I got an Rapier H120 exhaust from London Stainless Steel. The expensive part was the H120 manifold - which very different from the standard Rapier one. The centre section and tail pipe (same as standard Rapier) were about £300 total.
I doubt you will be able to get a stainless complete system for 370 quid, I'd guess it would be nearer 500 - but you will only have to buy one, ever.
I bought mine because I got tired of changing and/or welding the rear end of the exhaust every two or three years - they always rotted just above the back axle (but back then I was using my Rapier every day to get to and from work).
I'd recommend a phone call to London Stainless http://www.quicksilverexhausts.com/ and to P D Gough http://www.pdgough.co.uk/
From memory (I don't have the parts book to hand) the Rapier exhaust system is the same as the '71 Humber Sceptre, '71 Hunter GT and possibly the standard '71 Hunter. Post '71 systems also fit - you car has probably already got a later type exhaust fitted. |

As suggested previously, check with Glen to see if he has any exhaust sections available, there was some tailpipe sections available recently. If not speedy spares list centre and tail sections £135 for the pair. If you need a manifold let me know as I have one I would sell to you.

Yes, club has front middle & tail pipe - in mild steel. Middle & rear are remanufactured, but very good quality systems made to same spec as original Chrysler ones which were used as patterns. For all 3 bits you're looking around £200 + delivery costs. Send e-mail to Spares Sec for more detailed quote - that is me also  , but not home at the mo. so just flagging up we've got them. Cheers.
