Nice one Stig, May have a look at that one. Missed it my-self.
Who Knows, So near Christmas ? May get a good deal ?
Kinda think that Manta is priced a little optimistically though. I'd say £5 - 6,000. Perhaps the colour doesn't do it justice, but it doesn't look anything special to me. Certainly not £8 - 10,000 ! That's very tidy Karmann Ghia and well sorted Triumph Stag Money !

Moresy glad to be of help. I have been watching the Mathewson site for some time, they have some great cars go through their auctions. I wondered if you would notice the karmann knowing you are a fan of them

all the best Stig

LOL know what you mean, I think its designed to keep the tyre kickers, dreamers and gawpers out. Only someone with serious money or commitment to a certain auction is going to be happy to pay. Like you I would find I had short arms and long pockets when it came to paying to bid, but I am likely to be the sort of person they wouldn't want In the auction. High rollers only LOL

You would think they would at least knock it off of your buyers fee if you were lucky enough to make the winning bid.

Building the 'Mark II' fastback Rapier ('Arrocuda').

My thoughts exactly. Thing is, my son will want to come, so that's £50.00 for a start. Its a 300 mile round trip which will be 6 hours behind the wheel (say another £50.00 - £60.00 is for diesel)

Could be a tiring, expensive and disappointing day out !

I'll see what I'v got on nearer the time...

I was tempted with the one on the Mathewsons Auction, but having just been to the Anglia Auctions,(Gold Rapier auto) I know what you mean about a tiring, expensive disappointing day out!

(Even though just 4 hour round trip and £5 to get in). At £25 to get in, the Mathewson's auction will be full of people dressed up as antiques dealers!

Yes, that Manta is overpriced (wish I hadn't sold my Manta A Berlinetta Auto so cheaply now), the paint doesn't look too shiny and it shouldn't have a Matt black bonnet. Don't know where they get those prices from, don't think any have sold for that much.

Mmm, If I do go I'll have to dig out my tweed jacket, mustard mole-skin waistcoat, wolsey shirt and cravat. As for trousers, some Armani red jeans (apparently, they only let you buy a pair if you are over 60 with at least £800,000 on deposit) Oh, and I'll probably need my shooting stick and monocle to finish the look off.
Should be a 'Gradley' day out.

£1200 plus fee (£100 I think). I went to have a look at it. Unfortunately a bit too much rust. Hole in chassis underneath and wings. Paintwork had respray not brilliant. Interior looked good though. Too much for me as I was looking for a better one.

Interesting, I thought it looked like a recent re-spay. You definitely have to view old cars in the 'flesh'. And like I mentioned in an earlier post, It would have been an expensive day out !
