Hi everyone
Moresy thanks for reporting on the H120. you are getting quite adept at these car reviews :) its as most of us thought needs a lot of work, I suspect this one will sell and reappear back on ebay in 6 months, unless a SROC member is buying it?? Okay its not a capri..but it is rare nowadays ;) I bet you will easily guess LOL Insurance with Lancaster classic car for it is £80 fully comp and with breakdown cover included!! its about the only good thing about getting old is car insurance. Moresy are you going to bid or steer clear? |

I was trying to think of 2 door coupes that Ford built in the early eighties and that's all there is. Apart from the 2 door Sierra maybe. I dunno!

My-be its an XR4 ? The original 2 door one with the extra 'c' pillar (bit like the rover 220 gti /gsi's of the late eighties early nineties). Cant think of much else really, The Granada Coups last sold on 'R' reg in 1977. Ford Germany made some interesting variants on the Cortina (or Taunus) they did a Taunus fastback based on a MK 4. I dun-no ? Oooh you are a tease !
Found an old pic of my TR7. I bought this in 1988 with 60,000 miles on for £1000.00. It needed new front wings, New front wing inner liners, new sills, new bonnet, new front valance, new rear wheel arches, new lower rear wing sills (behind rear wheels) inner and outer, a new boot lid a new hood, and the drivers seat recovering (base and squab). Oh and a full re-spay - obviously. It was only 6 years old !
And the Karmann Ghia (Steering damper had gone here. That's why its up on ramps). Bear in mind, this picture was taken in 1987. The Ghia was 15 years old at the time, yet looked (even then) like it was from another world completely, exactly like the Rapier did. What 15 year old car (now) can look this good. Calibra, Corrado, Probe ?

Moresy totally love the karman!!!! and your asute nose has guessed correctly! I bought the car yesterday and its a beauty.. ful history 30 years old no rust only minor cosmetic stuff to do and errr the cracked dashboards they all suffered from. Really pleased with it! I know the shape isnt everyones cup of tea but it drives beautifully. I suppose i should resign from this club now and join the XR Owners Club. |

Nice one stig. You'll have to post a picture of it so we can all take a look. I saw a red one for sale near me and I thought Mmmm, interesting... Not seen one of those for a long time. Like you, I'm also keeping an open mind and coincidentally was tempted recently by a Rover 220 gti 2 door. Lightning stripe and half leather seats, all colour coded in bright red (original) 50 something thousand miles, One elderly owner £500. Very similar pillar arrangement to your XR4. Look forward to seeing a picture. |

Well the metallic yellow / gold Rapier H120 finished on £3220.00 Reserve not met. I wonder if it will go on again or it will be offered at the final bid. Thing is, if offered at the final bid, then the potential buyer could walk away. I must admit, I didn't think the reserve would be more than £3,000 tops. |

From your description of the car a reserve in excess of 3k suggests that the guy is either looking for a mug, or is playing the usual ebay sellers trick where they assume that there is a reasonable chance that the highest bidder will not have viewed the car before bidding.
Jason said that the car had been moved on several times over the past few years. Now we know why.
