Posted - 28 Jun 2011 : 20:54:03 Hi. First post. I am the proud owner of a 72 Rapier automatic. It's my daily driver and I love it. My question is, what are the proper "modern" tires for the car? There are 170/70R13s on it at the minute but a mate told me they should be 180s or 185s bur they're dearer. Could someone clear this up please. Cheers. |

Posted - 28 Jun 2011 : 21:59:42 Hi,welcome to the forum.
Original tyre size should be 165/13.
You can upgrade to wider tyres - 185/70/13. They must be this size to maintain the correct rolling radius.
The 175's you have fitted will be effecting the speedo reading as the radius is too small.
