Hi, I am new to this forum and I have never ever owned any Rootes cars at all, its all been Fords and Vauxhalls with a few oddballs thrown in!!!
I am after something a little bit different to Fords so thoughts have turned to a fastback Sunbeam. I would prefer an auto, how rare are they?
I have rebuilt many old Fords in the past (and modified them) from X/flows/Pintos into 100e,s, V6/8,s into Capris/Zephyrs etc.
Just fancy something different to a Capri but similar in concept.
How hard are the spares to find?
Has anyone modified a fastback? engines/transmissions/steering etc?
Cheers
Pete

welcome to the forum

I am a ford man at heart but always liked the fastback after
working on a H120 many years ago
currently turning mine into a classic rally car
had a bit of a love/hate relationship with this car but we have
turned a corner and are now quite happy together :)

couldn't see me selling it now !

sometimes nothing can be a real cool hand

Yes, welcome to the forum and good to hear you are considering a Fastback. I've owned one since I started to drive - a long long time and I still enjoy driving them!
Auto's are rarer, but are about. I had a nice one, but the chap I siold it to converted it to manual and is now going to rally it!

Hi Pete and welcome to the forum. The fastback would be a much better option than a capri () and you would join an exclusive club.

Not sure how many autos are out there but the conversion from manual would be simple.

As for modifying, there are several cars that have had work done, whether that be engine swaps (I've seen V8's) or just suspension mods etc.

Spares are generally pretty good and the club has a good stock. As with any of the less mainstream classics there are parts that are hard to find and the fastback is no different with body panels being the problem.

Keep us posted with your progress on finding a suitable car, there is plenty of good advice to be found on here if you get stuck.
