Here's one that's been advertised for a good few years.BKT 444K (72) Sundance yellow. Looks solid enough but the right hand wing tip looks like its heavily filled. Interesting Tomb stone seats. I seem to recall this one being advertised for ever on the Classic Cars website (years in fact). Think it was up for around £6000 originally - a bit optimistic.

The White 68'non-runner VGD 657G (with very good condition bodywork?!) is back on at a lower price £2995 (Think it was 3.5 k last time). Not sure whether this sold recently. seems to ring a bell. Solid looking but in reality would need quite a few bodywork repairs and a full re-spray to bring upto scratch (oh and whatever is wrong with the electrics / engine / fueling sorting out).

Next up is the neat little dark blue 70' Alpine, TPY 71H. The body looks pretty nice to me with excellent crisp looking wing tips and arches. Not keen on the tow bar and rear registration location, but I guess you cant have everything. Would benefit from a bit of detailing under the hood. At £6850 its pretty expensive but you have to ask yourself how much time, effort and expense would it take to turn the above white one into this one. I mean, a full strip down re-spray and lots of bodywork isn't going to be cheap these days.

Lastly, Not cheap. but honest looking, a 70' in metallic green Auto, VAY 301H. Looks like it has had some work to the wing tips, but just has that honest look to it. No interior or engine bay shots though. Was only sold to someone on the forum the beginning of August 2014 (MartinD). Got bored of that quickly. Yours for £4900.

And another one folks. Its a Bronze 1973 manual with overdrive, Reg PGH 66L. Did this sell at action in North Yorkshire around 18 months ago? Looks pretty straight at £3995. Not sure wheather its sold as the pictures look like there from spring / summer.

It was me!!!

I purchased the two H120's listed on fleabay the other day - I'll be collecting them over easter.

Bit of information to set off the gossip....
JNO710H is Currently owned by John Clarke and he used to rally it (hence the condition) last used in 2010 when the clutch died on him - car is mostly complete but i will need to find some cream seats and ditch the nasty mazda ones it has. The car will be for my girlfriend and we will i will be doing a light restoration to get it back on the road as soon as possible so that she can drive it in convoy with my H120 to the national!

And the other car??
PKV407R, currently registered to Ralph Lodge and was used as a doner car fro their rally car NMP444L, possibly even to be used as a "re-shell" project but it is still on a sorn and was built as an H120, it'll take a lot of putting back together but the original number matching engine block is supplyed. I'll be doing a full restoration on this for my friend Paul in the humber club who will own it - hopefully he too will come to the nation this year?? (watch this space)

I'm fairly new to the forum but not new to rapier, these will be my 4th and 5th H120's (i hope i dont sound greedy)- Glen mason is my hero!

Proud owner of 10% of the remaining H120s!

Ha Ha, Nah, I'd be deluding myself if I thought I'd get the time to restore them (or one of them). Looking for a polish and drive (with lots of unnecessary tinkering thrown in).
Need to pull my finger out and get the Karmann ready for summer.

I just got an ebay notification telling me that the H120's have been withdrawn from the auction and are 'no longer available'. Looks like Moorsey has been around there and put the ackers on the table!

The thing that made me suspicious was the glove box lid, or rather the badge fitted to it...

It's really just speculation from looking at photos. I looked at dash in case I could see an oil temp gauge - not very scientific I know - but that area is obscured, but then if it is a '76 H120, it would have had an ammeter anyway! I've mailed the chap to see if he has Reg/chassis no./V5 for the shell. Cheers. G.

I would concur with you Jason.... I zoomed in on the pic and it would appear that the VIN plate has been removed.

I remember the 1970 car selling on ebay a few years back, looks like it has been neglected since!

That car used to be a regular visitor to Rapier Nationals in the 80's. It was owned by a member from the Cambs area & had a genuine 17k on it when I last saw it, it was used sparingly in those days. I think it has been through a few owners since, but I would say price is pretty good if it has been looked after as well as the 2nd owner did for 20 years. Very genuine car. G

Loving the extra switches and indicator lights in the centre console, they're fab.
I did go and have a look at the yellow one in Skeggy the other day, looked nice and was getting at LOT of attention. Seller had got people coming from all over to look at it. 1 real owner from new and finished at £4900 ish.
Not such a bad thing that prices are rising, people may be more willing to make the effort if the finished result is worth what they put into it instead of the usual automotive money pit. Which ultimately could mean more survive?

Ha Ha, You got me sussed. Cant help looking at Sunbeams and Hillmans. Yeh, I would love to swap the ghia for a polish-and go-H120 but I just can't find one. Started some jobs on the Ghia. Got rid of the American spec twin vacuum advance anti-smog dizzy along with the crappy Brosol antismog carb. Swapped it for an original euro spec VW Solex. Rewired the headlamps and side lights (properly). Fitted an electric washer pump (the spare tyre system just wasn't up to it). New tail lenses and a few perished ribber bits replaced (door scraper seals). Got the fuel flap mechanism working properly with a new handle etc. loads of stuff Sprayed Dynax in the cavities just in the process of re-undersealing the front wings and much much more. At some stage I'll have to stop and start driving it.

Hi Moorsey..... good to see you back in these parts. Are the dubbers wearing you down yet?.... or is the desire to own a piece of Rootes brothers automotive history finally getting the better of you?

Thanks for putting together that summary Mooresy.
The values are on the up, which is OK if you already own one.
Yes, Sundance one is a decent car as I recall and was owned for many years by long time member who died a couple of years ago - it had, had some work, so was a little bit ragged round the edges when I last saw it - still genuine car.
The Alpine was restored in 2001 and still looks good; as does the green auto, which was only sold last year I think.
As for the white one - also auto: yes, that much for a non runner & engine seized! . If it was just that not so bad, but body full of filler too: I'd rather have one untouched - if you can find one as at least it won't be hiding lots of bad workmanship. Yes; maybe a grand tops if the interior is very good. G
