Posted - 12 Jun 2019 : 19:18:40 Hi, I've got a 1974 fastback automatic and I'm trying to find the correct starter motor. The one on the car is a pre engaged one but everyone tells me it should be an inertia one. The present one has worked fine until recently so I wanted to replace with the same but it has not got any numbers on it. I've got an Avenger starter but the solenoid is in the wrong position and hits the block. Anyone got a number for the correct starter?. Thanks, Kev |

My 1968 manual has an inertia type.
My Haynes manual shows both.
Speedy spares are normally quite good. They ask you for the year/ chassis no. to ensure you get the right part.
