Hi all,
This may seem a dumb question but I'll ask anyway.
My SIV is fitted with an all syncro gearbox with overdrive.I have refitted the box after 10 years and cannot remember which of the two switches on the box is for the reversing light and which is for the overdrive isolator.
I've not yet completed all the wiring so nothing is live yet.
Confirmation of which is which would be appreciated.
Regards
John

I've been checking the two switches with a mulitmeter and find that the right side switch is in the closed position when the gear stick is in 3rd/4th and opens when moved to reverse and into neutral,so it seems the right switch is the overdrive isolator. So far so good. The left side switch however was not operating at all.I removed it find several shims had been fitted, effectively preventing the switch being activated.I removed half the shims and now the switch only closes when reverse is engaged.
Problem solved, unless anyone has any comments.

Hi,
I know on the ser 3 Rapier the switch is on the right ( looking from te top ) My switch or the mechanism is worn and it caused the gearbox to jump in and out of overdrive. I took the washer out under the switch and it now sits deeper , which took up the wear and it is ok now.My gearbox has no reverse light switch on the left, just a plug, I presume the fastbacks are the same.
Cheers
Jannie
