Hi folks,

The car drives very well. No complaints.

However, trying to set the idle speed has always proved difficult.

DCOE40 carbs.

If on a particular day the idle is a little low, I wait until the engine is properly warm before trying to adjust to about 800-1000rpm.

As I get near to the magic 800-1000, I pause the adjusting but the idle starts creeping up to about 2000rpm. The adjustment is then of course backed off slowly and as before, when it's close I pause. The idle now drops to 500 or below, often stalling.

I remounted the carbs a while ago, replacing the 'o'-rings and hardware, then checked the balance and mixture (Colourtune), but this problem predates that.

I thought maybe the progression holes may be blocked. But on all the carbs? It's quite even idling whatever the speed.

I wondered if the collective could shed any light.

Thanks for any comments.
