 My 72 Fastback normally idles at 1000rpm

Don’t know of anything specific to the model, but there are a couple of possibilities I can think of. First, and most obvious I guess, is to check the throttle linkage to see if it is binding somewhere, or maybe worn bushes. Second, check if there is any air leakage into the inlet manifold engine side of the carburetter - that could cause a rise in idling revs.

Is this a new thing?

Up until now, what does it idle at? The manual says 800rpm.
