Hello again.
My IIIA is due for an MOT next week and I have been going through the usual checks to smooth the process. Unfortunately the horns have decided to stop working. When I press the horn ring (ignition on) there's a discharge on the ammeter of about 15 amps, but no sound from the horns. A couple of leads direct from the battery to the horn contacts shows that the horns will sound as they should. Is there anything that I should be wary of if I remove the horn ring as per the workshop manual, and when I've done so, what should I be looking for?
Thanks.
Tony.

Passed the MOT today. Nearly blew the tester off the ramp with my re-invigorated twin-tone horns!
Thanks again.
Tony.

Thank you for the reply Jannie. I took your advice and cleaned up the fuse contacts, the horn wire spade ends and the contacts on the horn.
Then I removed the horn ring assembly shich wasn't as daunting as I was expecting, cleaned up the contacts between the plates and also the contact from the indicator switch that rubs on the brass ring underneath the steering wheel.
The dual horns now work as they should.
Thanks for the input.
MOT on Thursday!
Tony.

I am not sure about the ser111A but the relay on my ser111 sits on the right next to the radiator. Check for voltage at the relay and manually press the contact ( remove the cover ). The horn ring contact is probably lost. I have had trouble with dirty fuses too, good idea to clean up all the contacts there if you have not done it yet.
