Posted - 29 Sep 2012 : 21:53:13 Hi all, As you may know Rootes made two Fastback Rapier V8's using Tiger engines. It was done by a firm outside of Rootes-can't remember who offhand, but with their blessing and called The 'Allegro'!
Some years back the 4.2 was in Scandanavia and the 4.7 was seen racing at Santa Pod.
I know a few people did their own conversions later; mostly using Rover V8's. Does anyone know if there is one of these languishing somewhere that might be for sale? I'd reaqlly like a V8 .
Let me know if you hear of one.
Cheers all.

Posted - 03 Oct 2012 : 21:51:22 There was one in Sweden which was a home-built one by a guy that worked for Rootes then went to work for, I think, Volvo. There was an article in the club magazine years ago. That car has a 289 (4.7). He did an amazing job it's a lovely car. My buddy Argonaut went visit him a few years back when he was living in Malmo and had a look around it, the car still looks like new.
I love V8's and I have considered putting one in the Rapier but I've got a lovely Holbay/Coltec engine waiting to go in.
I have been looking at a lot of Autotrader ads for Monaros recently though
