Hi
When i was in the SROC back in 2007 -2009 there used to be a national rally.
The last one i went to was Blenheim Palace in 2008.
Sold my Fastback in 2009 and have now bought a Fastback Alpine so intend to rejoin SROC shortly.
Whats happened to the get togethers & events ?
The forum is certainly better than back in 2008.
Hopefully see some other fastbacks soon & series Rapiers of course

I'm in!

The family would love it ( and so would I )

Well then Gents is it not up to us to do something about it?, this has to be the place to start - if enough of us can commit or even hope to attend then I'm sure something could be arranged,

Hi Rapier Dave, welcome to the forum. I've been a bit tardy on looking recently, so it's either all or none from me. Anyway; yes, that show is not bad (Greenwood one?) at Blenheim. I've spoken to someone else who went & they said it was good, but not too many Rootes/Chrysler cars there by all accounts., a few Rapiers G.

Don't forget your camera, then you can report back and tell us if it would be worth attending next year.

Well that sounds a great idea to me, I mean it must be soul destroying for organisers when hardly anyone turns up so if enough of us even show a genuine interest something could be possible

I think that was part of the plan also, to piggy back on a bigger show to avoid all the costs involved with arranging an event independently. There are some good shows on through the summer, perhaps we ought to plan to attend one and have a nice big club stand.

Have always wanted to go to this one, maybe we could go to the 2011 event??

I've been to (I think) every national rally since the early 90s - even though they are always at least 150 miles away.
I really miss them - there are no local meetings, the national was only opportunity to see other Rapiers and meet the owners.
The best ones were the joint rallies with other Rootes clubs - I don't care if the SROC is one small corner of a bigger Rootes rally - I love to see Hillmans, Humbers, Singers, Imps, Sunbeam Lotus, Tigers and all the rest.

Next year defnitely (maybe, possibly )

Well this might be a good place to see if enough were interested in attending another one, I was all set to go to Oxford 2 years ago even booked hotel etc but work demanded I go to Shetland at the last minute I was very very dissapointed, however let's see if enough of us could/would attend if a national rally were organised. I'm sure the committee would take notice if there were!
Regards Etc

There is no national rally anymore as far as I know due to low attendance figures in its latter years. This is due to the relatively low membership numbers in the club being spread right across the UK and therefore difficult for all to meet up in 1 location.

I think each local area will take it in turns to host an event where the formalities associated with the national will take place.
