Hello,

My car's not my daily driver. In fact I struggle to put on more than 500 miles most years.

The servicing schedule in my Haynes I would suspect is aimed at a car that is used every day and so it's hard to see the point in changing parts and consumables that have hardly seen any action.

Some things, checking of fluids, looking for leaks, etc., checking the tyres... I do every time before I start to drive.

Every Spring I check fluid levels in the gearbox, steering box & diff. and check the state of the brakes. I 'inspect' the engine oil, looking for deterioration, before deciding to change it (this up until now has been less of a problem because of a large oil leak that effectively meant the oil was always fresh!)

Now the oil leak is fixed, it got me wondering, when exactly should I change the oil?

How do other members schedule their maintenance?

My advise is: change both the brake fluid and the motor oil every 2 years.

Regards,

Peter
