Guys, I want your opinions on something please, in The Rapier Guide, section E, pages 002/003, there is a section on modifying a relief valve. Has anyone tried this? Or do we think it’s unnecessary?
I will be interested to know what you think!
Cheers Tone.

This is done mostly in the USA by Alpine owners. My opinion is: when the oil pressure is okay, leave it at that. When the oil pressure is not okay then the first thing to do is remove the valve and clean it before placing it back.
A 1725 cc engine, like yours, should have about 40 lbs/sq, inch when the engine is reving about 3000 rpm. On idle it should be about 20 lbs/sq.inch although the oil pressure at idle is not very important.

Regards,

Peter
